2009 Nissan Cube Won't Start with Key! Help!
My son just got a 2009 Cube last week. It has 77,000 miles on it. He put his first tank of gas in it the day that he bought it, and two days later, the "service engine soon" light came on.
He took it to Advance and they used their computer to diagnose it as the EVAP sensor. The guy asked if he had just put gas into it recently, and he said that he did. He said that most likely, the sensor was appearing because it didn't have a good seal on the gas cap. He told us to take the cap off, wait a while and then put it back on, and that after a few trips of driving, the sensor should go off.
Well, it didn't go off, so we bought a new gas cap, thinking that the original one may have had a crack in the gasket causing the code to appear. Still, the light didn't go off.
We noticed a couple of times this week that when entering the key into the ignition, the car dash would light up, but the engine wouldn't start. We thought that maybe it was a safety feature that the car doors had to be shut, or seatbelt on... and then after a couple of tries, the car would start right up and give us no problems.
Checked online and saw that someone recommended unhooking the battery cable for 30 minutes to "reset" the sensor light. We did that tonight, and now the dashboard lights come on, headlights come on, windows roll up and down, radio lights come on, but the car won't start (it does NOT have an intelligent key) AT ALL.
What in the world??? The steering wheel turns, it's in Park, key is in ignition, all dash lights come on (so the battery seems fine).
We are at a loss and have only had it for less than 2 weeks....
Any ideas??? Please! He's headed to college next week and we need it to be good to go! Thanks in advance!
