I would ask how they are so sure it is the cap which is leaking. What test are they performing? There are numerous areas/components including the gas cap which could be causing the leak. If you’re sure you have tightened the cap, then I would request they replace it since it must be defective.

same issue here..ima check the gas cap..then drive for a while then off to the dealer

They replaced the canister a couple of weeks ago and the light has not come on since. Actually it went off and remained off about a week before they replaced it - but the service rep told me they found the sensor would not lock into the canister properly so I can only guess the leak was intermittent.
