Question 1400 vs. 1500

For those of you from countries where both of these engines are available, can anyone relate any comparison with gas milage for the 2 motors. I will be buying the conventional auto (AT), not the CAT ( continuous/variable) . My mechanic wont work on CAT. On paper the 1500 has 8 extra kw, but I have heard rumours of much lower milage. Are these rumours true? I already have a powerful but thirsty vehicle (Skyline) so I am looking for a 2nd ecnomical one. Thank-you in advance, Nic
