Cube bad on tires?

Ok so the other day i was out of town with my wife and was planning on having a nice night out. However as we got to our destination, one of my tires began to wobble and vibrate the vehicle terribly. I decided to take it to an auto shop and as i was pulling in i heard a loud explosion. My tire had died. As i pulled into the garage and had it checked out the mechanic showed me what was wrong. All my tires will need to be replaced but the one that died had 3 knots on it and had a seperated belt (kind of like a retread tire but this one is what came on my vehicle when i bought it. Now im not big on tires or special rims, i still have the same tires/rims that came on my cube when i bought it. I have roughly 28,000 miles on my cube. I had to buy a new tire and will be purchasing the rest at a later date. My question is this. How bad are cubes on tires? Ive rotated my tires twice since ive had it. once every 12k miles

So far in 15,000 miles my tires still look and feel like new. Could be just a bad set of tires? But keep in mind on most new cars now they are putting the cheapest tires with softer rubber and I'm told to only expect 25,000 - 30,000 from an original set of tires on any car.
