Question Anyone else with this problem?

Hi all! Bought my Cube late January this year (2010 model year) and stored it in my garage (where my washer/dryer is kept). Only 3500 miles on it and it started chugging , lurching and stalling. Had to have it towed to the dealer 2 days ago. Seems the "air cone" under the car sucked up every stray dog hair that my dog shed when she entered and left my car thru the garage, and every piece of runaway lint from my dryer, and created what they called a "nest" deep in the filtration system. It destroyed my "air flow meter". I wonder whether it is a design flaw in this particular model. My previous car, a Subaru, was parked there for the 7 years I've lived here and no problem at all. It seems that this air intake feature acts like a shop vac.....my garage has never been cleaner!!! If I continue to park there I can only assume I'll continue to have this problem My 3 previous Nissans (Datsun B210, Stanza Wagon and Quest NEVER had such a problem. Now I worry every time I idle at a light....I'm looking for stray debris that can clog up the works!! Anyone???

Wow, thats a gnarly problem!

Sounds like a design problem with the Cube.

I would call an after market tuner like Stillen to see if they have any mods that can remedy this situation.

I just bought mine (2011 Krom) and will keep any eye on this.

You may also wanna research recalls based on your problem.

Exclamation

THis sounds exactly like the symptoms that I had before I lost my transmission - they have notoriously bad transmissions. Did that for a few months before it finally got so bad it wouldn't run - then they replaced it. They extended the warranties on the Cube transmission to 120,000 miles due to the cost and high replacement rate. Stay on your dealer.

Can you provide any further information on what you have told us about extending warranties?!! Are there any other members aware of this and can anyone provide further information for us?

Although I love my Cube, I am very disappointed, as I have also had major serious problems with the new 2009 Cube I had purchased (in 2010) and so, I truly know how you feel!

How did all that get past the air filter? Sounds like the air filter is not seated in the box right. I just put a cold air intake on my 09. The filter box was full of dirt and grass but never got past the air filter.

Exclamation air intake is key

as soon as i saw that it was so easy for debris to get into my stock air intake box i quickly modded my to an aftermarket system... no more debris for me. for those people who dont have to much money but is looking for some horseys for their cube had a friend who trimmed around the air intake box and used the tube that was left and simply mounted a air filter cone to it. amazingly it only took him 30 mins less if you have a dremel to cut your stock plastic box with.. but other than the problem listed above i suggest a upgrae to a better intake system.

I am new to this forum and had this problem with my 2009 Krom. I decided to get some answers from this forum since maybe one of the members might know. When I first bought my Krom it had a nice smooth acceleration from dead stop to 60 mph and over, that was great. The gas mileage was also good. The last 2 months these symptoms started to show. The acceleration became sluggsh and I had to put my foot on the gas to get it going, no more smooth throttle responise. The gas mileage has degreased because I have to keep my foot on the gas. The CVT transmission feels as though it gets stuck so I have to get off the gas and press the peddle again. Does this sound familiar?
I have regular service done and the last one the dealer said it was fine after a test drive. I know this isn't the way it drove when I bought it. Anyone have a solution?
Thanks,
