Default Stupid rocks :(

I just purchased my cube this weekend, and need some opinions from those of you who have owned your cube for a while. My poor car got it's first crack in the windshield yesterday, only four days after driving off the lot. From the time it happened til I got home, it had spread almost half way across the windshield. The whole crack is over 12 inches long. My question is...is it even worth the repair, if even possible....or total replacement? I am debating my decision as I am afraid it will only happen again, but yet it drives me crazy that it is even there in the first place. All suggestions are welcome

I don't think you can repair a crack like that, just replace it. Too bad about it happening so soon. The problem with a lot of these type of vehicles is the straight up windshields. My wife has a Honda Element, has about 5 stone chips in her windshield, fortunately none of them have turned into cracks. Her car is about three years old. My cube is just over a year old, so far no stone chips, guess I've been lucky.

Why don't you try installing a hood deflector on your Cube. It might help with your problem.

I'd replace it asap. It's a critical safety feature, accounting for up to 30% of your structural strength, not to mention it may be illegal in your jurisdiction to drive with a crack.

Chips are generally okay, get them filled before they spread (I had a chip 10 minutes off the lot on my cube, got it filled same day). I've also since put a hood deflector on my cube, it helps a bit, I notice more strikes on the roof, but still the odd one hits the windshield, mine is pretty heavily pitted. Don't gamble a few buck on the safety of you and your passengers.
