Default iPod through the system - use the aux

I was going to post asking how to manage the ipod menu through the system, but another forum has a zillion posts about it and the bottom line seems to be that if the ipod works at all, it's a surprise. The only time I can really get the menu is when I first plug it in. Otherwise, it rotates song titles.
True? iPod and Cubes just can't get along?

Until I get more info, I'm just running it through the aux jack, with a line out from the iPod headphone jack. Works fun, low frustration factor. Not as groovy as running it through the system, though.

Is there a solution to this?

I don't seem to have any trouble controling my ipod when plugged into my system. All audio controls work as indicated in the users manual and even the stearing wheel controls work. Do you have a specific question about the operation or does yours just not work at all?

When I first plug it in, I can scan the artists, albums, etc. But once it is playing (which it does just fine), I am unable to get back to that menu. SO if I'm listening to an album and want to change artists or playlists or whatever, I can't get back to that menu.

Is there something else that I could try? It'd be great to get it to work!

Now when you say "ipod" do you mean literally the maker "ipod" or just an mp3 player? I just bought a Cube and plugged in my Sansa Mp3 player to the cable area and the stereo doesnt detect it at all. Was wondering if it has to be IPOD?

The cable doesn't charge -- at least that's what I understand. The aux thing doesn't allow the steering wheel control, but I just use the ipod controls. It's no more of a hassle than changing a CD. It sounds like very few people had the ipod connection work well.

Plugged in my friends IPHONE and it played and charged at the same time. So my question was answered. It has to be a I-Pod or I Product. Such as a IPOD or Iphone or something with the I in front if it. So I guess Nissan has a contract with APPLE. It also worked with the steering wheel buttons.

So now my Sansa MP3 player works just not with that cable and that plug. I have to use the Aux plug. And it will not charge..
