Default Height of headrest

For the most part I love my Cube. My only issues are city gas mileage falling far short of the advertising claims, which I have written about elsewhere and must wait till I have put more miles on the car to really be able to test it, apparently.

My only other complaint is the height of the headrest. I'm 85 years old, am relatively short, just over five feet, though slowly shrinking all the time. So the headrest is too high, both for safety and for comfort. I've contacted both the dealership and Nissan head office and, unbelieveably, they say nothing can be done! Their only suggestion is that I get a cushion to sit on, but that would take away from the convenience that I, as a creaky 85 year old, enjoy of being able to easily slide on and off the seat! I find the company's response almost unbelievable, especially when I saw an ad in the newspaper showing the interior with the headrest touching the top of the seat. Mine cannot get closer than having a two inch gap between the headrest and the seat. Some ergonomics! some engineering! Any thought or suggestions?

Boy, I wish my headrests would touch the top of the seats too! They don't in my car either -- my husband just went out to check and make sure. I'm about 5'4" and my head doesn't come anywhere near the headrest. Maybe the ad you saw was for the 2010? Mine's a 2009.

If you figure it out, please post!

I have a 2010 and the headrests are the same, they stay about 2 inches above the top of the seat. Sorry I don't have any suggestions either, just wanted to let you know the 10's are no different than the '09.

I just drove about 1,000 km round trip, with cruise control set to 100 km/h for the whole thing. I got 6.5 litres per 100 km overall.
When I drive to work, a short 20 km trip with lots of stoplights and idling the engine for a few minutes before leaving to warm up the car, I get about 12 litres per 100 km.

As for the seats, I am rather tall (6'4") and I find that if I'm in the car for several hours at a time, the curve in the back of the seat gets uncomfortable. The seats are made for people who are of average height. But, the headrests are fine for me... when raised fairly high.

The headrest is there to stop your head from snapping backwards if you are in a crash. Unless your head fits through that two inch gap between the seat and the headrest, it should be fine. You are not supposed to drive with your head resting on the headrest.
