Default Paint Problems

I own a 2009 cube and for the most part I absolutely love it. However, I have been having paint problems since day one. I purchased it in late September and over the winter didn't realize how bad it was. Now that it's summer in Canada and the sun is out for more than 6 hours a day I can truly assess the damage. My car is scratched everywhere. The are all quite small, but even around the door handle is scratched from just my fingers opening and closing the door.

Is anyone else experiencing extremely soft paint? I mentioned it to the dealership and the staff person told me how he scratched his car with a key accidentally. This is not what is happening to my car and I felt like they were very dismissive of my concern.

My car is the coffee bean colour.

It's so disappointing to be looking into repainting a 9 month old car.

Most of the scratches are probably in the clear coat. Have the cube buffed out at a detail shop they can get most of them out and it will look brand new.

My cube is the red, and I have been over it with a fine tooth comb when cleaning and shining it and don't see any scratches in the paint anywhere. I would try buffing the clear coat as the previous post said, and if that doesn't help, try complaining to another dealer or a regional Nissan rep.

Just to clarify, the scratches are both in the top coat (which I'm not really worried about), all the way down to what looks like the metal.

The paint is also chipping as well. Nissan basically won't do anything and I feel like I'm beating my head against a brick wall.

I love my cube, but in the future I will not purchase with Nissan.

As kids go, mine don't treat anything with care or respect.... So my back doors the area around the door handles are showing the same scratches... Suprisingly there isn't any other issues with my paint... There's a crap ton of road construction the past month, including an offroad excursion to get to my road I live on due to them redoing the road to my place...

anyways no other damage then the door handle areas... it's like very fine hair size scrathes in the paint... I did ask my dealer who told me the nissan paint issues are no longer as they were linked more to early 2000 suv's or something like that... paint comes off period though so I don't doubt it's gonna eventually be an issue...

Boy, what a bummer! I have the Caribbean Blue and have no scratches at all on it. I have friends with other models of Nissan and they don't have any scratches either.

So sorry you're having these problems. I'd keep at them until they solve your problem!

Get it professionally detailed... Somewhere that uses a portercable polisher and professional products. The scratches will disappear. Some colours will show light scratches more than others.

A lot of newer cars seems to come with some real soft paint. I was walking a lot one day, and to a CAR, every one had mild (but noticable) scratch marks in the door handle area. Sure, the dealer can wipe some glaze on it and make it go away... for a while... but they're there.

I mentioned it to a saleman and he just laughed it off and blamed the women that worked there and the long nails that they had. Apparently, every night before they all can go home, they gotta check and make sure that every car and every door is locked. If your car sits on a lot for a while, it's gonna be "scratch city!"

Actually, a professional detailer will use a good polish and buff out any minor scratches. Obviously some (under the door handle) are harder to get at then others, but most would disappear for real... Not just covered up.
