I didn't look at any other cars or test drive any other cars before the Cube. I saw it, I drove it, I fell in love! I don't think there was one single thing that convinced me. I loved the color (Caribbean Blue) and the feel of the ride. It feels very spacious on the inside compared to lots of other cars.
I guess I just like vehicles that are different looking! My previous car (for 8 years) was a 2001 PT Cruiser, which was different looking when it first came out. My other ride is a 2008 Can Am Spyder, which is really different looking! My husband isn't sure what this says about HIS look, but you get the idea!

I owned a 2003 Honda Element that I bought new. Traded that in on a Kia Soul ! then swap it for a cube. The cube is like a smaller version of the Element. The Soul just rode very very harsh and a very old drivetrain makes it seems dated compared to the cube. Now if Nissan would make a cube with an Element like interior with a easily removable rear seat I think they would sell a lot more to dog owners that want better gas mileage compared to the Element.
Any more, a car has to do more than wow me with used soap bar looks, fast acceleration and opulence. I want comfort for three adults and a dog, utility, low upkeep and easy to drive.
We already had an '08 Xb and wanted another Xb to replace our Voyager, but Xb's with 4spd. autos are in short supply where we live. I looked at the Soul, but it seemed like a gimicky throw away car. The Element had some nice features, but it and I just didn't click.
The recent influx of retro cars were, for the most part, impractical to me. Most are too expensive for what they are. I liked the looks of the PT, but I felt I was wearing it more than driving it(being 6'4"/325lbs doesn't help any), mileage wasn't that great and again, I thought it was rather overpriced. Chrysler's mini vans are a much better deal for the money, but after five minivans, I'd had enough of those.
HHR was one retro I was concidering when I couldn't find another Xb for my wife. But the more I looked them over, the more I felt they too were just another over priced for what the market would bear vehicle, there wasn't one on the lot that was priced below $20,000 and that was after their phony rebate. So I never even got to set in one of them, because on the corner of this HHR lot was a single cube.
The clencher for me was the driver's seating accomodation. If you are tall and/or fat as I, you will love this car for this reason alone. cube's usage of wrap around glass is a gimmick, but I do like the use of flat glass on the sides and its large windows. cube's mileage is acceptable, considering it's boxieness. The CVT reminds me of my old '54 Buick Century with it's Dynaflow trans(thankfully cubes mileage is a little better than the Buick's.) The cube's rear recilining, sliding seat is nice, though I wish the bench was in the front and 'twin removable seats' were in the back. In fact, I wish the interior had a washable, easy to clean interior 'cuz of our dog. I miss my '78 VW bus in this respect. It was great for hauling dogs, groceries and kids around in. Need to haul bigger stuff? Un-bolt the two rear seats and you had tons of space and two stylish, easy to clean love seats for the livingroom. Make a mess inside the VW? The interior was rubber and vinyl, just hose it out front to back, to get rid of the dogs, kids and dirt.
I still have my LWB Dodge QuadCab if I need to do serious hauling. It's like driving a locomotive compared to either of our boxcars. Xb and cube maybe in the same class, but each has class of its own.
never was a huge fan of the elements, I had a soft spot for nicely fixed up ones but just could never see myself owning one. XBs, I just don't like the looks of the new ones for some reason. Souls, I honestly forgot about them I considered looking at them not long ago they seem really cool.
The cube I honestly didn't like when I first saw pictures, but seeing it in person it grew on me. Took it for a drive and just loved it
What sold me on the cube was a combination of features for the money, fuel economy, and just the unique appearance of it. My wife has an Element and loves it, and I have to admit I like the openess and roominess of the Element interior. But the cube was a better fit for me, more comfortable, better ride, much better gas mileage. I'm averaging 32mpg in the cube vs. 22.5mpg in her Element. I never really looked at any other box cars, the xb didn't appeal to me enough to ever want to look at it. I really got an up close look at the cube at the Cleveland auto show and decided that was it. It is loaded and I love all the gadgets, especially the lighting, the pushbutton start, trip computer, and automatic headlights, plus the lighting system. Stuff my 2008 Civic didn't have yet cost almost as much when I bought it. So it's hard to point out a single feature that sold me, but if I had to name one it is the unique styling, unlike anything else on the road. And people at stop lights are always looking to see what it is. It certainly does stand out in a crowd!

I traded a 200 Ford Focus SE Sony Limited Edition for my cube. I saw the cube at the annual car show here in my home town, from across the convention center floor and thought .."What is that??" Went over for a closer look, got inside and it was love at first sight! When I decided to shop for a new vehicle last month, cube came right to mind as a needed test drive. One drive sealed the deal for me, bought the car that night. My only decision was which model and color to go with, I have to say I ended up with the KROM due to the fun features...lighted door sills, 20 color mood lighting and the updgraded Rockford Fosgate audio system. It was hard giving up that SONY Xplod system in my Ford Focus, but the cube is an adequate replacement when it comes to audio. May upgrade the audio in the future, but for now it works for me.
For the record I am not a big fan of the Xb, Soul or Element, I really like the funky styling of the cube inside and out and the Krom is even more of a standout!
I went to cube after checking it out. I looked at the scion, element, and soul as well but none of them were as comfortable as the cube as for getting in and out of it, seat plushness, cargo area, and stereo.
Overall im a big guy 6'6" and 350 lbs. Getting in and out of a vehicle is hard for me because i have arthritis and gout and im only 27 geeeeez. So the cube was perfect for me.
Newbie here (will post my Cube after I pick her up tommorrow)
but why I Cubed is I also had an Element - 20 year old girl pulled out in front of me - TOTALED my beloved E (see attached pic)
Drove the new Element and couldn't stand the new seatbelt location (cut into my neck and shoulder) and after 7 years and 120K miles thought it might be nice to have the most different car on the road again

Geez Louise, That was a total? Must be the way it is with most cars these days. No wonder insurance companies charge so much.
