Um... no. As Fral659 said, Nissan (nor any other auto maker) will not be issuing a recall for windshield chips. The angle of the window has a lot to do with it. You can order a hood deflector (has to be ordered in from Canada as they don't seem to sell it yet in the US) which helps a bit. Or you could buy the ugly bra we can get in the US here. The hood deflector will have more effect on what hits your windshield than the bra does.

One other thing to keep in mind is following distance. Talk to any auto glass professional and they will all tell you the same. If you follow the 2 to 3 second following distance rule, you will diminish your chances of getting hit with road debris with about 40% to 50%. That is a significant difference...

Knock on wood I have no windshield chips, but I never follow to close. That kills me is the knicks in the paint, I have never had a vehicle that chipped so easily. I have so many little black specks where the paint has come off its not even funny. Custom paint was in my cubes future anyway, but this is still an obvius place where nissan cheaped out.

I haven't had any chips in my car or my windshield....yet. I don't follow too close either, and most of my driving is around town, not Interstate (I'm retired). However, ALL of my previous cars, including my last one, a beloved PT Cruiser, got chips in their windshields.

KanDa: What does this hood deflector look like? Do you have a link to it?

There's a post on NissanCubeLife.com:
Hood Deflector - Nissan Cube Car Forums

There's pictures and I believe the part number and dealer in Canada where the guy bought it.

$140 or so delivered is really not a bad deal in my opinion. I'll probably be putting one on in a few months.

They are talking about bascially a bug deflector. A plastic scoop along the front of your hood. I have one on a Chevy S10 I own, it makes it very hard to open the hood. It was on the truck when I bought it and I think whoever put it on put it on wrong.
