I got the 3rd party warranty from my dealer, Garber Nissan in Saginaw, (7 yrs./100,000mls for $1600) but was never told about the Nissan one. It seemed like a good deal, but now I'm not so sure. Should I be worried?
The $2000 seems like a lot now but down the road if something goes out I want to be covered. It seems like the largest repairs are needed when you can least afford them!
The beauty about the Nissan Security+Plus plan, is that you can finance the service contract it with no fee, no interest and no tax after you complete the purchase of your vehicle. So that $2,000 financial burden becomes a bit easier to swallow at $100 per month for 18 months and a $200 down payment (0% interest).

What is the administrator of the plan? (this will be listed on the service contract literature provided to you at the time of sale). Send me a private message and I can help compare apples and oranges. You may have still made a good decision to go with the dealer plan, you just need to be certain the coverage is still there.
So my question is this: does the same basic paradigm apply to my Nissan Krom Cube? i.e. I can buy the Nissan factory extended warranty at any time prior to the expiration of the standard 3 year 36K mile warranty that comes with the vehicle? It makes sense that I *should* be able to. However, I have to ask because last night the local Nissan dealer was telling me it doesn't work like that.
Dan, yes you can choose to purchase the Nissan Security+Plus protection plan at anytime during the Nissan Factory Warranty coverage window. You are not obligated to buy at the time of sale. However, as you wait, price increases will incur. If you know your going to keep your Cube until the wheels fall off, it is always best to lock in today's pricing to keep your vehicle protected for the long haul. Nissan just released (on April 1st) extended periods of coverage lasting up to 8 years and 120,000 miles from the original purchase date (in-service date).
I just stuck with the factory warranties. I did get suckered into a VIP program which includes lifetime oil changes and tire rotations on the vehicle. They told me that if i did it myself it would void the factory warranty.
I found out that that is not true, I am more than capable to do that myself but it was only $700 more which adds like $5 to my car payment.
Plus I dont have to get dirty.
I have never purchased an extended warranty for any new car and have never felt I would have benefited from one. I've owned7 new cars of my own and 5 for my wife and have kept the cars anywhere from 1 1/2 years to 11 years. The only car I could ever have used one on was an '04 Chrysler Sebring convertible but I still would never have gotten my moneys worth out of it, maybe had a total of $900 in repairs that would have been covered. Also, in case people don't know, the CVT transmissions in our Cubes are covered for 10 years 120,000 miles from the factory, because they are newer technology and Nissan wanted to reassure people they would hold up for a long time. You can find this info in your owners manual package and on the Nissan web site.

My question: I purchased the Extended Warranty from the Dealer in November when I purchased my Cube. I am covered for 5 years. Am considering adding to the coverage and making it 8 years. Wondering if that is possibile - does anyone know?
Got here through google. sorry for the late response...i've just have something to ask and hope to get answer from you guys. So i've bought my cube last 2008 and the warranty covers the car for three years but it has expired last january. Does the warranty counted even it has expired a week ago? if not, what should be the advisable thing to do. car repair costs thousands and i could not afford to have it right now....i'll wait for your response guys...Thanks!
Most consumer groups will tell you that you're better off without buying these. It's a money maker for the dealer - if they say otherwise, they are liars. If its worth your peace of mind and you can afford it, then by all means, make yourself happy. If you can not afford it, do not let them scare you into it.
I keep seeing $2000 for the Nissan extended warranty. I just paid around $800 total for 5YR/100K mi bumper to bumper from Nissan on Jan 30,2011.
Am I missing something? Is mine not what it was presented to be? why such a discrepency in price?
thanks
