Default Paint Protection for new Cube

Hi,

I'm a new owner of a 2010 Red 1.8SL Cube with Tech Package. So far so good.

The dealer is recommending that I purchase their paint protection treatment for $250. Does anyone know if this is a good idea and if the price is reasonable? I've never been asked if I wanted this before.

Same here in all aspects, picking it up tomorrow, same thing about the dealer. After doing some research on the net i have decided to say no. Just Google rust protection etc and there are a number of responses. To me it`s too expensive for what you get. Proper cleaning and waxing should take care of your vehicle as well as there is a thing called claybar it is like a clear bra that covers the car (i believe, if someone knows more please just in).

I've always heard that you should turn down the dealer paint protection -- it's just a money-maker for them. I've also heard that the paint on today's new cars it SO much better than years ago (the paint used to fade back in the old days). Like Crusader says, proper cleaning and waxing should take care of it just as well. I'm going to wax mine when the weather warms up in the Spring!

Mine came with the "paint protection" but I couldn't tell you what it does. After 6 months I already have the paint chipped off on the door and the hood from road debris hitting me while on the highway. Not to mention 3 chips in my windshield already oh and the flat tire. I have the best luck.

As far as I know a clay bar is a substance for for cleaning the car after washing to remove any grit that may be present on/in the paint. Also Venture Shield makes what thay call a paint protector which in reality is a clear bra attached to the vehicle simular to window tinting much thicker, clear and is removable.

My brother used to be a service manager and said that for a car that needed the "paint protection" option, one of the "lot boys" would take a large container of the paint protection solution and apply it to the car, kind of like liquid polish. Not that they'd use the whole container, just that they bought it in bulk. And that was it. No heat or other kind of curing, etc.

I don't think that something applied in that manner is worth the money.

I ended up not getting it just because I couldn't decide. I did get the 5 year extended warranty though for just under $2000. Not sure if I did the right thing but I was sold on it when they told me if I didn't use it after 5 years I'd get a full refund. But that's another topic.

I did not get one. If you love you Cube and take good care, wax regulary, you do not need one. Latest paint job on the body, it last long time, unless you do not take care it. If you do not wish to wax often, then it might be worth it, but you should love you Cube....

Default Rust Protection

There have always been mixed responses and opinions about rust protection systems but I feel it's worth to spend some money on your expensive car. As per my knowledge the CAT SYSTEM Rust Prevention works best as it was designed specifically to prevent rust in motor vehicles.

I checked on various sites and found this website to be giving the rust process information in a very clear way. It also provides information about how rust protection system works and the benefits along with customer testimonials.

Worth checking out!

Its a great idea. Im in Rochester NY where the weather is harsh from hot to cold and roads can be rocky and messy at times. I bought paint protection called Diamond Gloss from Ziebart.com. It works great and looks good too!
