Angry Intelligent key battery died after only one week

After having my car for one week, the battery in my intelligent key died. I replaced the battery, which was not easy to do, and now it is working fine. I guess I could have just been unlucky and got a bum battery in it when I bought it, but I'm worried it could be a problem with the key.
Has anybody had any issues with the intelligent key?

I've had my Cube since Oct. 21, 09, and haven't had any problems with either Intelligent Key. Hopefully, it was just an old battery (???). I'd keep an eye on it, and if you still have problems, go to your dealer -- don't take "NO" for an answer either!

I've already let my dealer know about it. They told me the batteries should last about two years.
I've also had a problem with the display on the radio, so I'm going to take it in this week to get BOTH issues checked out.

... And jodeg1945, I don't plan on taking "no" for an answer from these guys. I shouldn't be having these types of problems after only a week.

You sure shouldn't! I can imagine how disappointed you must feel at this point! I waited almost FOUR MONTHS for my blue Cube and if I'd had one single problem with it, I would have gone all crazy on them! I'd make them sorry they were ever born! I'm retired now, so I'd have PLENTY of time to go after them!

Whew! I got myself all mad just now! My husband used to tell people that if they didn't cooperate, he'd turn his wife loose on them! LOL!

These problems have been a huge disappointment for me. I was furious when the key died on me. The dealership is pretty lucky that they weren't open when it happened. I have a feeling I would have been over there screaming. I was able to calm down once I replaced the battery.
I'm still happy with the cube, but these two issues have me feeling a little uneasy. They are minor enough that I'm not totally flipping out, but if they don't treat me right when I take it in for service, they better watch out.
Hopefully things will go well for me this week...but if not, I'm ready to fight.

Flaws happen, go talk to your dealer about it!

Yes the first year of production is known to have some issues. Subaru added variable valve timming to the 06 2.5i. Ya they forgot a gasket in my new 06, for the actuator. Every time it engaged it would shoot oil every ware. Also in the owners manual, it lists things that will make the battery life go down in the transmitter. But your case is a fulty battery. Did the other transmitter work still?

The other key worked fine. I put a new battery in the one that had died and it has been working since. I'm taking the car in tomorrow for a problem with the radio display and I'm going to have them look at the key. My guess is that I just got unlucky and it had a bad battery in it when I bought it.
