When it is below freezing and I first turn on my cube, the left side of the stereo display doesn't function. It is just blank on the left side, after a couple of minutes the left side slowly comes back to life, a few pixels at a time. It comes back starting with the part closest to the center and moves left until the whole screen is functioning.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Maybe some of you northern cube owners. I've only had my cube for a little over a week. It started doing this the second or third day after I bought it. It has been unusually cold here in Maryland. Is this something that is normal for this type of display in sub freezing temperatures?

No, I haven't had this problem either! It's been unusually cold here too, but everything on my Cube seems to be working just fine.
You seem to be having some bad luck (?) with your new Cube -- I'm sorry it hasn't been a wonderful experience for you so far. Maybe a "talk" with your dealer is in order?
Good luck -- keep us posting on how things are going for you and your Cube!

Yeah, my experience has been a bit less than wonderful.
Like I said in the reply to my other post, I've made the dealership aware of my problems and I'll be taking it in this week. They have been good to me so far, but I'll see how this goes. I'm ready to put up fight if I need to.
I will keep posting updates on any progress (or new problems).
LSD displays dont like cold. That is normal, it will be slow and look funny untill it warms up. Just like us.
My first thought was that the LCD needed to warm up in those sort of temperatures. That's why I wanted to see if it was happenning to anyone else or if mine was an isolated incident. I wasn't going to mention it to the dealership until I took it in for it's first service, but the salesman emailed me to see how things were going with the car. When I told him about it he said he didn't know why it might be doing that. I would have thought he would have know about the LCD needing to warm up if that is a common thing. I figure it can't hurt to take it in, I've had a minor issue with the intelligent key too. I might as well take it in and get both issues documented in case this becomes a bigger problem later.
Funny that this was brought up. I was driving this morning and temperatures were just below freezing, which has never happened since I've had my cars. I started up my other car this morning (Toyota Yaris) and the radio display was very dim and laggy. Never noticed it before. My Cube hasn't had the same issue but, it's kept in the garage so that's probably why.
I guess it just needs some time to warm up.
#1: What's an LSD display show you, and can you print it on a t-shirt?
#2: I live where it's at most -5 celcius for weeks at a time, and my '09 SL Cube has never demonstrated the symptom described, re: half the LCD display clouded. I suspect that it's the sort of thing you shall have to wait to go terminal before the stealership will replace it. Until then: call it "character."
I'm taking it to the dealer Wednesday. I doubt they will do anything, it's not going to be that cold here that day so they probably won't even witness the problem. I'm going to try to raise hell to get a replacement, but if I don't at least they will have a record that I've had this problem and hopefully I won't have to fight as hard when it does go terminal.
I took it to te dealership this morning. Of course it was warmed up and looked normal by the time they looked at it, but service tech said he has seen this before on other cubes. So I didn't have to put up a fight, they are ordering me a new stereo. I should have it by Friday.
