Default Freezing cold back seats!

I drove up to Chicago (about 2.5 hours) last weekend and my buddy sitting in back said he felt a cold draft coming from beneath the seats.

Yeah, I understand that the back seats don't have much for climate control but you'd think on a long road trip that the rear passengers wouldn't have to bundle up!

Anyone have any input on this?

Input: Tell your buddy the next time he can walk if he doesn't like it!!!

That's strange, I've not had anyone complain. There's some kind of vent underneath the driver's seat that blows heat into the back of the car. The heater WAS turned ON, wasn't it???

Well yeah, the heat was on the foot vent/windshield option. Given, it was about 2°F out and we were driving 75mph....

Just thought it was odd and I'm wondering if I have a bad seal in the back somewhere. I checked around and everything seems fine.

Also, I told him it was his fault for wearing running shoes when I wear boots pretty much all year long. But that's a whole different story!

IF you can find a REALLY TRUSTED person to drive your Cube , maybe you could ride in the back seat and see what it's like.

My husband has ridden in the back seat, just last week actually, and didn't say he was cold. Maybe they're just fooling around, trying to give you something to worry about, since you probably told them how much you LOVE your Cube!

Haha, possibly. Like I said, I blamed his shoes, not my car but it did get my wheels turning in my head.

I trust my girlfriend enough to drive my car, I've seen how she babies her own Honda Fit. Maybe a "test drive" is in order!

I find the symptom you describe disconcerting. Were it my Cube, I'd definitely have the carpets up and the driver cruising the freeway. Bring a cigarette (or some other smokey thing) so you can accurately test for drafts and figure out where the leak is. If, in fact, there is one.

But there must be. I can't believe that Nissan would engineer it such that the back seat got unseasonable at a mere two degrees; that's awful! We expect such short-sighted blunders from lesser manufacturers, but not them.

Good luck!

I may bring some incense in the car, that way it won't stink up (too much) and won't really cause any burns. We'll see where the culprit is hiding!

One place to look ... there are two dimples in the metal work of the door sill in the rear doors. Look to see if there is any dust in the dimples ... that is where the doors can leak and you will get a draft. Also, on your test drive ... check around the top of the rear doors when at highway speed. The wind patterns at speed tend to pull the doors away a bit from the roof. That is what they fixed on mine and it is much better now. Before they fixed that, my left side would be cold from the draft.
