Default Fuel Gauge

Mine seems to read lower than it should. The MPG seem to be consistent (about 25) but the Lines on the gauge are dropping quickly. I think the accuracy is off. Anyone else?

nah, it's just a tiny gas tank, I let it go to within 2 notches of empty and just shy of 10 gallons went into the tank, so it's an 11 gallon tank, 12 TOPS.

When my cube was still brand new I noticed something related but different: the fuel gauge would read full soon after I fill up but then within 5 miles it's already gone down a bar (and then went down normally after that). After talking to my mechanic at the dealer, he opened it up & noticed nothing wrong with the fuel sensor. However, he said that sometimes some cars are sensitive to pumping pressure which can affect the reading on the gauge. So basically he suggested that whenever I fill up I should keep pumping by hand until I cannot put any more gas in there (I normally let the pump go auto until it shuts off, then I pump by hand until i can't pump any more - which normally results in 1.5 more gallons beyond the auto shut-off). Since this change, my gauge reads full for a reasonable amount of time which corresponds with my current mpg rating. I don't know if this helps you at all, but it might help someone else.

Last fill it went down 2 bars at 20 miles. At a 1/4 tank I should be at about 75miles....I'm at 50.
Thanks for posting...I'll try a Top Off fill up next time. I'll address this at the first oil change.

Usually after I fill up the top bar never even lights up. If it does, it's for about 5 miles. I usually fill up at Shell stations and one day I had to fill up at a 7-11 and after the fillup the gauge showed 1/8 of the tank still empty. I'm guessing those last two bottom bars equate to about 3-4 gallons because when I get down to two bars it only takes about 9 and a half gallons to top it off.

I drove 155m and replaced 7.25 gals(tank was topped to begin with. The MPG seem to be worse every tank unless the gauge is totally hear-say.
I need a detective to find the 28-30 MPG as advertised. Just kidding...I realize that is based on 100% ideal conditions.

Never fill the tank up to the top. It will block off or flood the emission control system breather.

I've been averaging 330-360 total miles per tank.

My indicator shows I'm getting 29.6ish mpg.

Great mileage. What are your driving habits?
I'm driving short stop & go trips with the A/C on.
