Well, this is something each person has to decide for him/herself. When we ordered my Cube back in July (just got it 2 weeks ago!), I wanted the SL with the SL Preferred Package in Caribbean Blue.
When the order was placed, the dealership told us it "HAD" to be ordered with some extra options (BULL!). They had to include the Interior Designer Package, Interior Illumination Package and the Splash Guards. We told them to cancel the order because we didn't want these items and weren't going to pay for them. They backed down and said that the car would come with these options and we wouldn't have to pay for them. We figured we'd believe this when we saw it!
After a four month wait, a change in dealership ownership, and replacement of all the dealership management, my Cube finally arrived on Oct. 21st, and yes, it had all those options. The only one we paid for was the Perferred Package.
NOW, all that being said, the 20 color changing lights are fine I guess, but I leave them turned off unless I'm demonstrating them to a friend! We're senior citizens, so maybe this is something that would appeal to younger people??? As for me, I wouldn't pay the extra $390 (as I remember) for this lighting package. The package also includes lighted kickplates -- they're in blue and spell "CUBE" -- I like these.
I'm surprised you can't find a dealer that has a Cube with this option so you can take a look at it. Have you asked at various dealerships?
