Question The HORN -- or a ROADRUNNER

What do all of you think of the sound of the HORN on the Cube??

It sounds pretty whimpy to me! I like a horn sound that curls their toes and makes their hair fall out!! People will think we're kidding with that horn!

People who ride motorcycles say that "Loud Pipes Save Lives" -- same goes for a car horn, right?

Guess I'm doing pretty good if this is my only gripe!!!

Anyway, what do YOU think???

Well, I choose to look at it as a "friendly" horn. Which works well when you're trying to say, "um, hi, the light is GREEN!" But I do miss a more aggressive horn when I'm trying to say, "Hey, jerk, get out of my lane!"

I guess you're right -- I'll try to look at it that way -- "friendly"!

Install an airhorn. That will get some attention.

I've been thinking about recording the Thunderheaders I have on my Harley and using that as a horn. LOL When they look for the Harley and see a Cube it should really freak them out.

Default fiendly horn

I, too, have been pondering the "cute little friendly horn" in the Cube. With big powerful sound systems in cars, people on their cell phones (regardless of the hands-free laws), and other distractors, sometimes a big powerful horn may be necessary to rekindle the consciousness of the other driver. On the other hand, something extremely unusual like the train, especially in an area such as ours where we have a lot of commuter trains, may really freak the other driver so much, they compound an already risky situation.

So, I got to thinking about how often I really use my horn and except for a very rare occurence as mentioned above, most of the time is to nudge someone gently into action at a green light they have not noticed. So, while I would like a big blaster for that one situation where it may be needed, defensive driving is still a better answer. However, if you can show me where to install something really cool, let me know; how about the Good Humor truck bells at least for those of us with pearl white cubes???

Default The Horn is Whimpy.

My daughter calls my Cube's horn a 'Girly Horn'. Friendly or not, it's getting replaced. I'll take the horns off of my old Eldorado and mount them if I can. I don't want anyone mistaking my car for an overgrown squeaker toy.

I too am dissatisfied with the cubes horn. the few times i have used it the driver i was honking at either didnt hear it or were looking around like they didnt even understand it was someone honking.

does anyone have any experience with any of the cheap replacements off ebay?
do the air horns require a second or 2 to build up pressure before they actually produce sound?
if i ran power to the compressor directlly from the battery (adding a fuse on the +) could i use the existing horn wire to trigger a relay?
or is there an easier way to connect?
anyone have the nissan's sport horn?
is it worth the extra $$?
