Default Might Buy a Cube questions

Hi. My wife and I sat in a Cube Sat. We both liked it and will test drive it next week. If we do buy one it'll be a White 1SL w/SL package and cargo cover.
My first questions are...
Do these sell for list or what can I expect off the top.
Do you have any regrets with yours. Would you order the same again or get more or less options?
The Cube will not be our primary ride. It's just for knocking around the neighborhood. Thanks, Frank

Since most of the dealers are having a hard time getting stock, don't expect anything off the top.

As far as regrets ... just one ... Driving a Cube puts such a smile on my face that my face muscles are always sore. I'm not used to that.

I work for a dealer, my advice is to go on the last day of the month, especially if it's a weekend, they love to make deals to meet their month goals.

Like cubist said though we can't get any stock. So expect to pay sticker.

There's not much markup on cubes and versas to start with anyway. The salesmen keep calling me to show mine to people that want to see one because we don't have any in inventory. Cash for clunkers wiped out new car stock so it's going to be hard to find cars for awhile.

Our buying time frame would be early Nov. I'd take one from inventory if that's possible. Thanks for the heads up on the selling price. I like to know what to expect

My only regret (in advance) is the Cube will be Auto so my wife can drive it but I'll get over it. Otherwise I think the design is creative. The interior is roomy. The dash layout is plain, simple & clean cut. We liked it as soon as we eyeballed it and jumped in.

I just picked mine up about two weeks ago and really love it. I bought it 700 miles from home so I had a long drive in it right from the start. It's such a pleasure to drive, surprisingly quiet and comfortable. I bought mine only after seeing pictures and reading about it, didn't even test drive one or see one in person. Still no regreats. My only dislike is the seat material, it seems to attract every bit of lint, hair, ect. and is a real PITA to vacuum stuff off of it. But other than that it's the most fun car I've driven in many years.....well, except for my 64 Corvair...LOL

Default Regrets?

Regrets, I've had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

My Way - Paul Anka

I wish I didn't get the Funereal Black Cube. See my comments in the colors topic for details.

I agree the seat material is a mess. It keeps picking up dust and dirt and it's hard to clean. A lighter color might be better.

The felt like material in the doors and arm rests has a similar problem.

I just noticed that the plastic widget on the bungee cord on the drivers side has damaged the finish on the plastic door panel. Apparently my leg has been resting against that piece as I drive, pushing it against the door and rubbing it. This is after just 1300 miles.

I wish the Cube came with Sirius instead of XM. In part that is because I already have three Sirius radios and can't add the Cube to my family plan. I have to pay full price for a second Sirius/XM account. It's also because signal reception for XM is not as good as Sirius and the XM display is too limited.

I'm still trying to decide if I like the seats or not. There are times when the drivers seat feels like it's leaning a bit to the right. That may be when the car is sitting at an angel, like when driving on a crowned road. I keep feeling like I'm slipping to the right in the seat. I think this is an indication of a lack of side support. I know I never noticed this in my previous cars, including my Focus.

The arm rest isn't. My arm comes down about four inches to the right of the skinny arm rest. If I was a slim young thing that might not be the case, but I'm a wide old thing. I just leave it folded up - a waste of metal and plastic.

Cargo space is less than my previous hatch backs. I was able to carry a boxed dishwasher home in my Focus ZX3. I don't expect I'll be able to do that in the Cube. But even a routine shopping trip seems a bit tight - though not unacceptable. I have the cargo storage unit on order and I'll see if that helps when I get it.

The swinging rear door has some limitations. When open it increases the length of the car which might be a problem in a garage or in town where we have diagonal parking. The rear door opens into traffic. You can drive with a normal hatch partially open if you are carrying anything really big. This is not a good thing to do due to the possibility of sucking exhaust fumes into the car, but it could be helpful in a pinch if you need to carry a larger item in the back for a short distance. You can't do that at all in a Cube.

None of these issues are show stoppers and none would prevent me from buying the car, but it's good to be aware of them.

I'm having the same issue with my Cube Krom.

I also wish the passenger seat came with it's own armrest. But I too don't use the driver side armrest half of the time either.

I now have just over 1400km on the Cube. My biggest beef is the arm rests or lack of. I have trouble with my shoulders under any conditions, but driving with them unsupported hurts. My solution I think will be to try and make some out of very high density foam, cover them with complimentary material, and attach them with velcro. That may work and if it does I will take some pics and post them here.

My other beef is the amount of unprotected metal on the sides of the car. It is subject to any and all abuses by other car doors being opened carelessly. I already have two small dings from people parking too close to me and their doors ding my car. I am having some moulding installed today that will hopefully help with that. It will likely detract from the appearance, but if it saves an early paint job, it will be worth it.

I am lucky in that I can open the back door when the car is in the garage, but I have run into an occasion in a parking lot where someone parked too close to the back and I couldn't open it. I had to move forward to put the shopping in. Also, that is a large door and heavy, so I am wondering if with a lot of use, the hinges will wear out quickly like the Pontiacs and Chevies did.

All, in all though, I still enjoy the car and I am pleased that I bought it. There is just my wife and I so there is plenty of room for us. We took the Cube on a picnic last weekend and there was room for our cooler and blankets and Coleman stove. It is fun to drive and at 39 or so mpg (imperial) it is about 14mpg better than my old Sante Fe.

A nice fat center console with additional storage like I had on the Focus would be the best solution. That arm rest worked for both the driver and passenger and I was able to keep some useful items in there where they were accessible to the driver.
