Default Stick vs. CVT including possible performance mods

I am considering buying a Cube and am trying to decide stick vs. CVT. I know the CVT is rated higher MPG but wondered if that really ends up making a difference. Also, if in the future, I decide to turbo it or who knows what, would a CVT be able to handle more power? I know I could always get a better clutch but wasn't sure which transmission could handle extra power better.

Thanks

IDK if it could or not time will only tell but if you can drive a stick already then just get the stick.

I got the stick, love it.

I can easily get well over 30 mpg on the highway, but often get about 28-29 combined if i do alot of city driving.

I think it comes down to the cvt doing better for city driving, which makes alot of sense, but i feel you can get more out of the engine with the 6 speed, though the cvt (while i dont like the feel of it, it's just eiery to me) gets out of its own way with pep as well.

cant go too wrong, as I am very surprised how well the cube performs overall.

Thumbs up Stick is good

Before i bought my manual cube i test drove both, had to say the automatic feels the same (as the soft gas pedal moves the same) but the manual let me control that so i'm not speeding sporadically to have it change.

I got 1300mi on it and havent been going passed 3,000rpm (to let it break in)

but having a stick even not exceeding 3k rpm's i pass all the people in daily driving which is what i wanted anyway.

i feel more power when i'm in 4th and 5th... even the 6th feels really strong...but by then i'm only doing 40-45mph

Yes why is the SL offered with a stick option. Is it posble to special order with the 6 speed? Dont like auto, takes the control out of the drive. Its also much better in the winter.

No SL Stick...

I even ordered mine and chose everything,

maybe they think the clutch and the push button might be too hard to remember for some people lol

stick or cvt??? depends on what you plan to do with your cube. i got the sl with the cvt cause i find the cube more of a cruiser than a sport compact and i found hard to do full burn outs with the manual cube. also you'd rather be coasting by the xb's so that they more time stare at your ultra cool cube.

I ended up getting a CVT because there were hardly any manual transmissions to choose from. I am happier with the choice than I thought I would be. It took a few weeks to get used to driving without the transmission making that shift sound.
