Default Not so great Cube review; huh?

Hi all. I'm new to the forum having just become acquainted with the Cube. I absolutely love it! To me it's a rolling work of art in a sea of boring, unispired look-a-like cars. My wife loves it as well. Just looking at it makes us smile and the last car that made us smile was our Audi TT (newborn twins made the TT highly impractical). What a fabulous concept!
Anyway, we are thinking about buying one but I have a few questions.
The Car and Driver review seems to be at odds with many other reviews I've read:
2010 Nissan Cube S - Road Test/Micro Machines/Car Shopping/Hot Lists/Reviews/Car and Driver - Car And Driver

Does the dash really shiver and groan, and do the rear headrests really vibrate?
How does everyone find the Cube on highways? So many reviews seem to feel the Cube is a great around-town car, but not in its element (sorry) on the highway.
On the Edmunds site, MSRP is very close to what people have actually paid. Is this the reality of buying a Cube?

Thanks very much for any replies to my questions.

I have had my cube for just over a month and have 1284 miles on it. I am 83 years old and this is one of the most fun cars tha I have ever owned. I took delivery in Portland,Ore a drove it stright down to Modesto,Ca. the next day. It was GREAT on the freeway. My 625 mi trip was made on just a drop or less than 20 gals. My car is tight and true and having spent the past 60 years in the auto business I have been exposed to lots of cars and I am HAPPY with my cube. thanks bill

Thumbs up Happy Owner

I have to say that after many GM products starting with a new '62 Chevy this this is the first car that I really feel comfortable in and it gives me a sense of belonging.Sorta fits like a glove.
This type of design has always appealed to me.
I am getting about 6.8Litres per 100KM.A little over 40MPG Imperial gallon [bigger] or US [about 3.7 litres] not sure which applies.
Better than I expected anyway.
This is mixed city and highway driving.

Those reviewers can't stand the strange and unusual [to them].
They are biased and have horse blinkers thus giving a narrow minded review.
I find the Cube very quiet and solid so I don't know what they are talking about.
The review of the red Cube with video just posted on this forum is a much better review.

Bill of Arizona who replied to your thread called me a young pup at 70 years to his 83 and a half!
Ever since then I have had a spring in my step!

Bryan

I have over 2000 kms on mine so far no problems. Being a cube (box) wind is not it's friend. So although not the ideal highway vehicle, it is tight (fit and finish) and fun

70 years old? 83? Youngsters! There was a man on TV who was giving an interesting interview; he was 92 years old and just started taking flying lessons. He said to the reporter, "I refuse to get old."
70 and 83 refers to how many times the earth orbited the sun in your lifetimes. It does *not* refer to how "old" you are. Youngsters!

You know I have never thought of it that way.
Thanks Vger105 from now on I will think of you when I tell folks I have orbited around the sun going on 71 times.

Cheers,
Bryan.

Default bad review ---- why???

I now have 2600 miles on my cube in about 4 weeks with about 20% or so on the highway. Averaging 29-30mpg. I love saying, "fill it" and only have to pay for about 10 gallons.

Have not experienced any of the issues listed. Today I drove (2 xs) over a long high bridge with big wind exposure and gusts hitting at least 30 mph. I was watching the other cars and could not see that I was having to correct any more/less than anyone else. Back down on the flats, I actually saw other cars making more correction than I was experiencing. Wind problems -- who dreamed that one up?

Nothing groaning in the dash, no vibrations in the headrest. I like to lay my head back into the headrest while my wife removed hers as she said it pushed her head forward to far.

I do have a vibration noise in the right rear corner on certain road bumps. My wife thinks it is originating under the panel of the rear door, however have not done any investigating yet.

Pulled up next to a Cube last night at a stop light and said, "nice car". The driver asked, "how do you like your car?" "Love it", said I. when I asked how long she had owned hers, she said she was renting it.....green light, never got to ask more, so maybe some rental dealers are using the Cube. cool
