Here's a few pics of the deflector installed and still attached after 700+ miles . It's a genuine Nissan (Canada) part.
And yeah, about the paint.. I've touched up what I can so far but the dent is also missing paint so I just filled it in with paint for now and I'm not going to worry about it (since the hood deflector is covering that now).
Both my cars are made in Japan and both have really sucky paint. My previous cars were GM and though they sucked in overall quality, the paint was pretty darn good.

Default perforation warranty

I am a new owner of a 2010 cube (bought it Jan 30,2011) and I saw something about a warranty for the paint. would this not cover the chips you are getting from road debris?

Default perforated paint

Good luck with warranty coverage on your paint. I suppose you could call the 800 number in the front of your O.M. and ask Scion this question and remove all doubts.

Ever since manufacturing industries were made to take lead out of the paint, auto paint durability, no matter the brand, has not been what it used to be. Base color and clear coat give a nice color presentation, but if the clearcoat is breached, so goes the base color, usually down to the primer coat.

Effects of road salts, acid rain, bug splat and other harsh debris have a normal wear and tear effect on the paint that I doubt will be covered by warranty. With such a flat surface on the cutting edge of a Cube's hood, a bug deflector might be a worthy investment.

Personally I try to dodge the biggest bugs.
