Mods are chosen by the admins most of the time. On another forum (srtforums) I spent a lot of time in the for sale section correcting people. I was asked to be a mod and I accepted. Then with hard work, I was bumped up to elected mod. Now, I'm a junior admin.

I can't speak for most people because I am not most people, I am only me, but I can say that his signature doesn't bother me at all.
