When using the penny method. If you take a penny and check your tires grooves in various spots and your tire still covers any part of Lincolns head then you'll still have roughly a little over 2/32" of tread depth remaining.
But be fore warned. That alot of states will also fail your inspection if your under 2/32" of thread.
You could also go to any automotive type store or even Wlamarts have them. And pick yourself up a tire depth guage and check the tires for how much thread is left.
Here's an example of a cheap one. You can also buy digital ones as well. I have a cheapy on like the one below in the link and it works just fine..
